"I love how people are talking about how ChageGPT is gonna replace Google while Google just quietly uses a more advanced dialogue system behind the scenews. ChatGPT is a big step in the right direction but they're still a few years behind Google."

That's a really interesting assertion. If they are really that far ahead, then where is it and why aren't we as consumers working with it now?

And yes, ChatGPT has it's problems, but I find myself using it daily in replace of Google many times because it actually gives me the answer I'm after as opposed to a bunch of hits that are really just ads.

I guess it's similar to Tesla vs Waymo/Cruise. The former simply released a unfinished product first then iterate on the production accepting some reputational damages while the latter put a much higher bar for whatever reason. I don't know if this assertion is really true or not, but the overall strategy on AI between two companies seems significantly different.

This. It's frustrating when I'm searching for information and all the results on the first page are just native advertising articles from the top 20 ad laden websites. I'm really looking forward to using Chat GPT to answer my questions. Having said that, a strong BS detector will be needed as It's been shown that ChatGPT isn't always correct, but is always confident.

this does a good job at answering those questions:

When google started releasing stuff like duplex in 2018 etc everyone soiled their pants over privacy etc. They then had to scale it back or shut stuff down

Now everyone seems to have forgotten and wondering "how did google miss this"
