Yes, but you won't feel like you just switched from HDD to SSD. Going from 15s to 12s is nice but won't make you super excited. This new Optane is the first SSD that might give you that feeling.


I think you're underestimating the improvement you get from dropping SATA and overestimating how much room for improvement is left for typical users - when the i/o times get to the level of being perceptually unimportant, changes to them don't matter as much and developers are less incentivized to make things as i/o efficient. HDD to SSD type of change is hard to repeat.
