Intel bought Altera, and Altera have had development kits similar to this for a long time. What is the price of the new FPGA add-on cards? That is what will make the difference here for a 'new push'.

The new thing is that the embedded hard CPU core is some flavour of Xeon rather than ARM or MIPS.
