"Viable" doesn't just mean the game runs; it also means that Steam makes money on it. And Steam may be making a lot less money in the future due to the Windows app store.



If that is what was meant, then I'd argue it should not read as "not viable for games" but instead "not viable for the Steam business"


With many (likely most) PC gamers having sunk many thousands of dollars into their Steam library, those are the same thing.

Foolish on their part? Probably. However that seems to be the current situation anyway.
