Back in 2007 or so I realized that it had been many years since I'd read anything but work-related technology tomes.

I decided to start reading each of the Hugo / Nebula award winners [1].

Growing to accept and enjoy the utility of eBooks (I have reservations about the pricing and terms) has been huge for attacking my reading list.

Poll is a bit confusing. I'm always reading a book, e.g., I've always got a book open at home that I pick up and read at different points during the day - anywhere from 30 minutes to ~120 minutes total each day. How many different books I read in a day or week is driven primarily by how long it takes me to complete them - sometimes its 3-4 novels a week, sometimes it can take me a couple of weeks to finish a single novel.

The only unambiguous answer I can give is that the last three are each false.

The first six all have some truth value over some range of definitions for "book."

I don't always read several books every day. And sometimes, when I do, one or more of the books is online and in HTML or PDF, etc.

Among the books I might or might not read on any given day, are some that I have been reading for most of the year.

Generally, but for availability, I prefer dead tree books.

I usually read something - book/paper/magazine every day but I find myself using my tablet more and more mainly for reading online articles, blogs, watching videos etc. This takes away from my traditional reading time. Recently I've taken active steps to curtail my tablet time so I can have more time for books and in-depth reading.

It feels like there should be an option in between "2-3 books a week" and "multiple books a year". I read every day but it's rare for me to finish a book in a single week, since most of my reading happens on the bus or over the weekend.

Selected "I read multiple books a few times a week", but, I'm not sure if thats the best fit. I read for some amount of time every day, but, its rare for me to be on the same book for longer than a few days -- and if I finish a book in the evening, I'll probably wait till the next day to pick up another one.

Basically, my target for the year is to read 104 new[1] books cover-to-cover, or, two books a week, and I'm currently a bit ahead of schedule.

1. Books that I haven't read before, not that are published in 2013.

I'm reading for about one hour per day, every day (rarely I skip a day), for the last 2 years. First year I completed 52, second year I completed 60 books.

As others have said, I could probably answer many of these depending on your definition. I typically consult multiple reference books daily. I'm usually reading some piece of fiction at any point though sometimes this means powering through something in a weekend and sometimes this means reading a book over the course of 6 months.

I carry my Kindle around and read at least a few pages every day.

Mostly light reading/irrelevant stuff (currently on book 16 of the Xanth series by Piers Anthony, reading about 2/3 books per week). It's my equivalent of mindless TV watching :)
