What about when Rap Genius creates a Chrome/Firefox plugin which lets users annotate the entire web?

All of a sudden, their valuation makes sense... that sort of data would be hugely valuable for Google as part of Google Plus.

Thats an entirely different product. And convincing people to install a plugin is much harder than convincing them to visit your site.
