"Ensure that Frontier AI Protects Free Speech and American Values AI systems will play a profound role in how we educate our children, do our jobs, and consume media. It is essential that these systems be built from the ground up with freedom of speech and expression in mind, and that U.S. government policy does not interfere with that objective. We must ensure that free speech flourishes in the era of AI and that AI procured by the Federal government objectively reflects truth rather than social engineering agendas."

It seems that everywhere free speech is mentioned today, the intent is to do the exactly opposite....

> objectively reflects truth

Someone desperately needs a philosophy course…

Isn’t this just another version of the sentiment “follow the science”?

It isn’t like they’re gonna force AI companies to have their systems declare that God created the universe a few thousand years ago…

> homosexuality is objectively morally wrong

Just want to point out that the current Treasury Secretary (Scott Bessent) is a gay man.

And so is Thiel, and he is funding so much of this. Them being hypocrites is pretty part for the course.

This is so hyperbolic. This kind of fake emotional blackmail is not working anymore. No one is really buying it and people are starting to realize they may be able to stop pretending to believe in what you saying without risking everything.

For every single item I mentioned, I can point to actual actions that the government and the coalition that supports it has taken, that demonstrate that agenda.

But I suspect that won't penetrate the kind of denial you're clinging to.

> To them, "objectively reflects the truth" means things like black people are inferior, homosexuality is objectively morally wrong, women are subordinate to men, marriage is only between a biological man and a biological woman, and so on and so on.

Who are the “them” in your sentence?

People in the current administration and people who support them.

Do you not follow the news?

Do... you not know these people? Where do you live and can I move there?

It was the left and DEI until recently. The more things change the more they stay the same?

Yep, remember asking in previous US administration and AIs like Gemini how many genders there are or to generate pictures of white Europeans. People forgot too quickly ho big of a no-no that was and now they seethe when the same speech censorship practices they approved of are used against their talking points.

What I learned was that everyone's definition of censorship was: "everyone who disagrees with me".

One way or another, an LLM is a reflection of the ideology it was made from. That's why understanding ideology is important for understanding AI.
