I've seen it failing more but, honestly, my faith in it has grown so much I'm simply asking it to do more and trusting it is able to do more. .
I asked it last night to give me a list of countries that met a certain criteria then to give give me their predicated populations and GDP in 2050 and 2100. The data it came out with was incredibly wrong with populations of the countries in 10^15 range . I told it that the data must be wrong and it did the "Of course! Sorry!" response and gave an excuse which i had no way of really knowing was true or just some kind fo AI bluff for when it messes up. It then tried to redo the data request again and, while different, the numbers were still obviously wrong. I asked it to only get data from certain organiztions and it failed a third time. Then I just gave up.
Now, that was frustrating, but I think a year or more ago I would'n't have even bothered to ask it to do this because i would've felt it just would mess up somehow and I didn't want to have to deal with that. Things have changed, i trust it more. AEven now I'm still shocked how well it answerws me and how it can come up with genuinely clever solutions to things. When that happens I trust it even more... with that kind of process it's just inevitable it'll disapoint me eventually.
I will say this though: While love chatGPT but I'mm sick to death of it refusing to answer certain prompts or not discuss certain things. If anyone came out with something almost as good but less restrictive I'd go for it. I want to be able to ask controversial questions, have it engage in some dark possibly violent, and yeah, why can't i use it to create porn? Is that so bad? I'm an adult, i can handle it.
ChatGPTs "slip" for me is just being too much of a nanny who feels the need to shield me from nasties. That's not the AI future i really want.
