Japan (historically high suicide rates), telling us how to live. I think I'll take my chances with another philosophy.

Stereotypically. In reality, it's middle of the pack in either 2000 or 2019 and lower than the US now.

Maybe country-level culture is too coarse-grained to tell any individual what is right for them?

(BTW, I get the irony of an American saying this, but I do say it sincerely)
