At every stage you get asked “Do you want to spend money and effort solving this problem for the customer, at the cost of substantial revenue, or do you do nothing except shrug and make an excuse, and watch the money roll in?” If you aren’t deeply invested in the long term quality of the company there’s not a lot of personal incentive to do get former.
