Why? I'd love to see a fully-local LLM for text generation, proofreading etc.

Nobody forces you to use it, and I have much higher trust in Mozilla to not do a sneaky switcheroo to a cloud-based model or something similar than I have in the other browser vendors.

Does it really have to be integrated in the browser, though? Because Mozilla already distributes offline LLMs: https://github.com/Mozilla-Ocho/llamafile.
