> “We do not know if non-medical cannabis leads to better cognition or the other way around if those with better cognition are more likely to use non-medical cannabis. We need longitudinal studies to see long term if non-medical cannabis use is protecting our cognition over time. That’s something we don’t know yet, but that research is hindered since cannabis remains illegal federally.”

so its still an unknown.

also im not sure this source is enough we will need to see report from other countries, especially those that have yet to legalize it and have little to no incentive for bias

heavy marijuana usage brings about brain fog. like you are never going to be as sharp and quick as someone who doesn't smoke weed. but perhaps thats where the neuroprotective properties arise, especially in highly analytical jobs where you are constantly splitting things in your mind, marijuana can "repair" unlike cocaine that is abused by wall street to make them more analytical (leading to their inevitable demise)

I used to be a major supporter of medical marijuana but now i think countries like Singapore and South Korea have good reasons to be cautious. We simply do not know yet because its still illegal to study it.

There's all sorts of issues that come from habitual usage and high THC definitely causes withdrawl but i think its much better than the normalized alcoholism in east asia
