Water is very heavy and prevents the doors from opening outward. Mythbusters actually did a series of tests on the subject of escaping a car underwater that was a really good episode. Essentially what they had to do was to purposefully roll down the window to flood the car, wait for the pressure to equalize, and then open door. That was with a safety diver who could provide an air supply if the test subject (Adam Savage) was unable to escape the car in time. In an actual situation, it seems very hard to imagine you'd be able to keep your wits about you to pull it off.
She was in there like half an hour, eventually with divers. Time to make a phone call. Ultimately the car was flooded, the divers didn't try the doors? Finally pulled it out with the doors closed.
My car locks the doors when it goes above 5 miles per hour. As I alluded to, when your car goes in the water (which does happen to people some times), you tend to drown because it's hard to escape. I don't really feel like engaging with some grand conspiracy or other about the goings on of oligarchs, but what is supposed to be the actual tampering with the car that would have caused an issue?
I don't know. It's just so strange to think a conscious coherent competent person could not find a way out of that situation. In a slowly sinking car, in possession of her wits.
Maybe I'm just resisting the notion that cars are deathtraps.
I suspect your wits leave you extremely quickly when it happens - Adam Savage said it was incredibly unsettling to be in the car when it went in the water, and that was in a controlled situation with a rescue diver in the back seat.
They do make actual hammers for this situation that also include seat belt cutters because that can also be an issue. That said, I can’t imagine that anyone practices with one since you’d have to replace your window after. I wonder if the Tesla glass can actually stand up to one of them.
> Angela Chao, the billionaire sister-in-law of Sen. Mitch McConnell, tragically drowned in a pond at her Texas ranch.
Not just a billionaire, a politically connected one. All the stories I've seen so far mention her actual work with the feel that she was a placeholder in the shipping company job, a family cog.
The past few days I've heard some fun rumors about "Musk is purging republicans for MAGA"
Or are they electronic? Then why in blazes haven't they all been recalled? That has to be a class 1 violation of any sensible auto safety rules.
