Somebody is buying food on grubhut. Is not me

Since two days ago I was receiving Grubhut emails saying that "your food order has been confirmed" on several New York Restaurants. A day later, the order is rejected with several excuses ("the meat was bad") and asking for a reimburse so I receive a second order update mail.

The problem is that I'm not ordering anything, I'm not in NY, and that the name and addresses in the order aren't mine. I don't know how some machine associated my mail to this person (if they really exist, I think that shouldn't be very difficult to collect a list of mails using ChatGPT or something).

So, either Grubhut is now faking (bad) customers to suck more money from small restaurants, or somebody is damaging my, lets call it, "mail image" associating it to a crook, or I had been hacked and is the typical scam of "give me your credit card number so I can reimburse your money".

Have happened to you? Any suggestion about how to proceed apart of just ignoring it?

I handled this with AT&T by calling customer service, letting them know that the email was wrong, and then when customer service wouldn't do anything, threatened to login, change the password, then cancel all the services used by the person who used my email address. Suddenly they could do something. Never received another mail from that person's account.

good idea, thanks
