No one cares if you put your resume together in LaTeX. Hardly anyone working in the software industry even knows what that is.
The other tips are fine, but all pretty generic. Moreover "work for a big brand name company" and "don't do short stints" aren't exactly resume writing advice.
I definitely notice if a resume is written in latex, and while I wouldn't hire someone solely based on that, it's definitely a slight positive in my mind. IMHO it shows they understand the value of visual presentation, using the right tool for the job, and aren't afraid to learn a new programming language.
Fair comment. I did try to add tactical things someone could do in the short term to make it less "by the way you're screwed if you didn't do this", but I'll make sure to frame it more specifically in my next posts
