Statistics are easy for people to completely ignore or misunderstand.

For example, SF’s homicide rate is better than Denver, but you’d have a hard time finding someone accusing Denver of being a dangerous place.

Another good one is “well you don’t get mugged/stabbed on the street in [car-centric city] like you do in [walkable city].”

I saw one comment that talked about murders happening “daily” on the Toronto subway even though that is statistically impossible.
