Wiping is the right concept here. Unlocking is not.
Sure, yes, you need to unlock in order to wipe. Duh.
But unlock is not sufficient to prevent harm.
The owner of the laptop does. fucking. not. have the right to give away the private information of other people that is stored on the laptop. Photos, contact info, private communications, etc., etc.
Wipe, not just unlock. Let’s use the words that fit the end that needs to be reached, not just one step toward that end.
