I thought this might be of particular interest to HN webfont geeks, as the default font here on HN is Verdana (where available)!

It's truly a testament to Matthew Carter's genius that these fonts - designed in the early 90s for inclusion in Windows 95 - are not only still around but actively thriving all these decades later.

BTW, if you're a fontophile and you haven't seen Georgia Pro, you're missing out. If you have access to a Windows machine, it's available for free on the Microsoft Store : https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/georgia-pro/9N9DZG1X... (you're then free to copy your legally licensed download to another machine and enjoy it for personal use! The font will not be under C:\Windows\Fonts but rather in the new per-user %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts directory).
