You write "i.e." when you should write "e.g.".


Correct, and for future reference:

i.e. - id est - "that is" (i.e. a clarifying restatement of what was just said)

e.g. - exempli gratia - "for example" ("I like to post comments about language and usage of English, e.g. clarifying the use of certain Latin abbreviations")
