20+ year journeyman developer.

I never really wanted a job, but to build things that make money. I've tended to prioritize my own projects over seeking new freelancing / consulting engagements, and as a result I'm afraid my background may look a little funky.

For the past several years I was obsessed with implementing an idea for a novel computing concept where all HCI is message-based, and all logic is developed 'lazily' over time, to automate real user stories. Unfortunately this work was unfunded and complicated by the throes of real life, and I've decided (once more) to cast it aside and focus on paying work / survival. I changed tack, stack, and scope too many times. I burned out to the point of complete inability to work, repeatedly. I burned business partners. I burdened my family. I still feel like it's really important, but I just cannot continue. Not like this.

I'm an American expat residing near Medellín, Colombia, but I would like to migrate to Portugal as soon as possible.

I'm hoping to earn $100 per hour, and work 24 hours per week (4 days * 6 hours).

I'm most comfortable with Javascript, but for the past year I've been writing Go and Qt QML. My favorite language is Elm, but I've never had the pleasure of using it professionally for more than a small project, and sadly I don't see it as very practical.

I can get into just about anything, and would love a novel problem to work on.

Please give me an opportunity. My email is in my profile.
