That's what I've been saying for months. But, in spite of the general intelligence level of HNers when it comes to debating most subjects, their faith in the integrity of the 'Good Ol' US of A' is unshakeable.

PS: it's cui bono

It's 'Qui bono' or more accurately and less pretentious: 'who benefits'

Not quite.

Russia is crumbling. Their market is worthless, so it’s not just western companies leaving it, Chinese are doing the same. Entire Russian part of Belt and Road got dropped and is instead being shifted south. And because they lost their main customer, they are forced to sell gas to China even cheaper than before. But most of all, their society is starting to realize they are not world power, they are merely “Nigeria with nukes”. India no longer wants Russian weapons. Kazakhstan is openly mocking Putin. It’s unlikely the current regime can survive the failure in Ukraine - not after wasting half of their armed forces. Long term it’s even worse, as the only real product Russia has - fossil fuels - are in the process of being replaced by green sources.

Europe will have some manufacturing problems this winter, sure. But differently from Russia we can afford it - and in about a year from now we’ll be able to take reparations.
