The website is almost empty on mobile but still takes 3 seconds to load and I get a white screen while its loading. How did everyone get so bad at web development?
SPAs are a problem literally _everywhere_: When all you have is a sledgehammer, everything is a rusty nail just waiting to be pounded sideways and abandoned for someone else to fix.
A website design that perfectly captures how programmers feel about Java. Unremarkable, bland, corporate, boring. No passion, no feeling of progress. Just boring old Java being boring old Java.
Don't know about you, but I personally want Java and the JVM to be boring. It's a foundation for some systems I use like a TI embedded programming IDE based on Eclipse and my use of Clojure. I want it to do its job with as little excitement as possible.
When people say they want boring tech what they usually mean is something along the lines of "stable", "predictable" and perhaps without change for the sake of change.
The java website to me is more boring in the sense of soulless and corporate.
The Microsoft .NET site is so much noise. Maybe it’s all relevant. Maybe all the information I need Is on that page. But shit there’s a point where simple IS better. If I’m going to Java.com it’s for 2 reasons: to download the JDK or look at documentation. The simplicity of the site gets out of my way to do just that.
The new java.com site isn't just boring, its bad. It looks like a domain parking page. With so little content it manages to use two different font stacks and 6 different font sizes.
This site https://www.java.com/en/ is experiencing technical difficulty. We are aware of the issue and are working as quick as possible to correct the issue.

There are a lot of really neat things in Java that other languages lack, but you wouldn't know looking that website. These frameworks take the language to the next level and can iterate independently of the core language.
* CDI 2.0/3.0 (OpenWebBeans / Weld)
* Junit5
* Mockito
* Microprofile
* Quarkus
* Graal
Maven/Gradle are also very polished compared to whats available in other language ecosystems (To this day, no analog exists for C/C++).
I very much enjoy using the language and ecosystem.
I don't think uBlock Origin has a blanket 3rd party block standard as part of any of the normal lists or settings. Running uBlock Origin here and it loads. Do a lot of sites break with 3rd party blocking?
