I suggest all to pick up "Mircosoft OneNote" once again. Pick the older version, not the new Windows Apps version, its BS like every other metro style app.
After trying a bunch of tools, i found OneNote to be the least resistant. You can write and put anything anywhere on a page including text, images, files and even draw something. Every page is freeform like an infinite canvas and its all searchable.
