> Most recruiters are terrible. They send generic job descriptions if there’s a matching word in your resume. I’m very surprised the market didn’t push the recruiter game up. There’s so much room for improvement!

Yeah, why is that?

Same for most Realtors.

It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but same for most people at most jobs.

Most people aren’t that great at what they do. They do enough to get by and don’t make a ton of mistakes, but they rightfully don’t give 100%.

Source: Me. Am not great at what I do. Don’t give 100%. Do make a number of mistakes. Do enough to get by but not much more.

Because to them it is a numbers game. They try hard to make the interactions seem personal but for the most part to them it is all business. It you're susceptible they'll have you relocate your family across country for an at-will contract knowing retention sucks. As long as they get paid they do not care for the most part. They will also spam the hell out of you for eternity no matter how much you tell them you don't want to do something.

Sales funnels.

You can only nudge conversions to each successive "step" so much. Once you've reached diminishing returns, the only thing left to do is get more leads into the funnel -- grind the process out/pick up the phone and dial.

Feast or famine jobs also don't lend themselves well to "long-term thinking." If something is working, don't break it, just keep on going and make that paper. If something isn't working, you don't have the time/soundness of mind to figure it out, just keep on going (or else you won't be able to pay your bills).

Jobs are a commodity and the only selling point is price/pay -- making it one of the worst things to "sell" (the "best"/easiest things to sell are the antithesis of this).
