Well yeah, after years of seeing lobbyists slipping their suggested phrasing into bills, it was about time we took a page from their playbook. :)

(Disclosure: I volunteer in a local CCC chapter, mostly in public relations.)

The last sentences already address this: "Ich sollte an der Stelle vielleicht auch klar ansagen: Die Politiker, die anderer Lobbyisten vorformulierte Entwürfe übernehmen, sind faule Schufte. Die, die unsere vorformulierten Entwürfe durchwinken, sind wohlinformierte und hochintelligente Ehrenleute!1!!" ;)

Google translate for others curious:

"At this point I should perhaps also state clearly: The politicians who adopt other lobbyists' pre-formulated drafts are lazy villains. Those who wave through our pre-formulated drafts are well-informed and highly intelligent people of honor!1!!"

Nice.

I think "scoundrel" is a better translation of "schuft" in this context (over "villain").

TIL winken takes the dative.

1) The verb is durchwinken, not winken. Winken doesn't take any arguments except the subject.

2) "Durchwinken" takes an accusative object as in this example.

1) Jdm. Winken.

"Ich winke dir" is valid without "zu", but depending on where you live, unusual. "Ich habe dir gewunken" sounds less strange already.

Nevertheless, "gewunken" is wrong. The correct conjugation is "gewinkt".

As an Austrian, I've never heard anyone use "gewinkt" in a serious manner.

It is not wrong as it is the more commonly used form.

Thanks for the clarity!

It doesn’t. The verb is “jemanden oder etwas durchwinken” (let someone or something pass through).

Akkusativ is jemanden oder etwas.

Dativ is jemandem oder etwas.

Ok but then why vorformulierte in the first clause

Also that German sense of humor shines through.

Have you thought you are laughing at High Functioning Autism and Asperger's at a regional level?

I sometime think it was an HFA who coined the phrase, "if you want the job done properly, do it yourself"! It explains so much.
