I’m excited for these developments for two reasons:
1. People who, for whatever reason, have defective or non functional reproductive tissue generation (eggs or sperm) will be able to have this tissue synthesized on demand. Being semi or totally sterile becomes inconvenient, not a forgone conclusion.
2. Permanent birth control (tubes removed or a vasectomy) doesn’t carry the irreversible weight it does now, which makes it more attractive to folks who really, really don’t want kids currently but are fearful of regret in the future.
