"The installation alludes to the ephemerality of the border between natural and artificial, real and virtual, evoking the possibility of a delicate and invisible technology."
Just a look at a forest in my Belgium country. 99% chance it's not natural. I don't need 49 projectors and associated wasted CO2 to demonstrate that... A very simple walk outside plus a bit of comment would just do it.
I must admit that sometimes I think the artists, especially the contemporary ones, are making things that are not really interesting in the artistic sense. I do appreciate the aesthetics of the piece that is provided here though. But besides that, the "conveyed idea" doesn't seem very smart to me. I understand artistic freedom though, but as such it can be criticized (which I do).
AFAIC, moreover, the virtual-real distinction has been already, in some sense, covered. See for example the hyperrealism movement, or more closely a movie such as Existenz.
What even is the aesthetic proposition here? I'm not sure I even get it on the artists terms. Is it the feeling of aliveness/presence/perspective that the artist obtained by simulating the sun?
Or something to do with the duplicity of this sun being fake?
