They are still dependent on Cloudflare. And their datacenter can cut off their power in theory.

Gab swapped one set of vendors for another. Now they are at the mercy of Cloudflare, ProtonMail, Wordpress, their new underlying server vendor and any security vulnerabilities that pop up in their haphazardly maintained forks of the libre software that powers their website.

> Now they are at the mercy of Cloudflare, ProtonMail, Wordpress

WordPress is open source software, not a company or platform. No one can stop anyone else from using it, provided they have some sort of hosting.

You may be thinking of WordPress.com, run by Automattic? Disclosure: I work there. :)

I hope your aware that this Gab blog is using your companies products, specifically stats.wp.com

Well, ya told them to make their own, and they did.

Kinda jealous, pretty cool to not be reliant on third party hosting

They are relying on Wordpress to support the blog we both just read, and their entire platform is a barely maintained fork of Mastodon: https://code.gab.com/gab/social/gab-social/-/commits/develop

This is not a high effort endeavor, the reskinning Gab did was the bare minimum to steer users to buy Gab Pro and try to stop said users from getting scammed by competitors (press F12 on a Gab page on the main site to see their hilarious warning message).
