It only "fixes" the CPU hogging part of Flash (and, presumably, Flash's lack of mobile support)." Seems like you answered your own question. Those are two major problems with Flash.

Where's the evidence that heavy animations in javascript are less CPU hogging than heavy animations in Flash?
