Why, o why, doesn’t this show the (supposedly; he text doesn’t convince me, and because I never noticed broken monospace handling, I’m not interested enough in this to compare it, even in a single browser) broken handling?

I would also think browsers fine-tune their behavior to their default mono space font, on the assumption that those overriding that will tweak the stylesheet, too. Are those so similar in size between browsers that a single css rule can be optimal?
