Camera lenses can't be blinded? Sensors can be blinded too, by rain, sun and dirt.

Just had to remark on that specific point. But I understand where you're coming from. Still doesn't change my trust level for technology taking over in traffic.




Most self driving systems are using redundancy, people have only a couple of eyes.

I was involved in the development of a self driving vehicle and agree that we are still not there, that's why there are no commercially sold self driving vehicles.

OTOH we can clearly see that it is a possible goal, or at least a possible goal to try and achieve, for the coming years and not a very far future.

Remember that what we want to achieve is not necessarily zero accidents but a lower number than human driver achieve.
