As a Brit I'm bewildered by the poor state of the basic working conditions Americans put up with. It's more similar to what my relatives in China get than the base line benefits and conditions in Europe.
On the flipside, I am amazed that Brits put up with going to college for 4 years to be a developer and living in a very high cost of living place like London, to make $50-65k a year after 10 years of experience.
Many differences for many different people / lifestyles.
