From what I've read, Diaspora as well as Hubzilla and Friendica are also going to be integrating ActivityPub so there's movement going on that front. One thing these services are sorely lacking though is decent event management support. Friendica is alright, but the UI lets it down. Diaspora has no support for it at all from the user's perspective either.
