In seriousness, I pine for the post `~username`, pre-`/username` days where services would hand out subdomains for user management. It still happens -- viz Tumblr, etc. -- but I feel like it's less frequently then it used to. One reason I would avoid is that wildcard certs are pricey. Nice to see that will commoditize a bit come January.
