Much of the communication has in the past been meant to convey exactly that feeling. It's not uncommon for people on the urbit network to refer to themselves as martians :-)
Personally, I would describe the feeling as somewhere in between reading SICP and reading Momo. That's a great feeling, and it's kind of the opposite of the feeling you get from the mess that much of computing is today.
