Reminds me of punchline from a joke about a man who finally, after 30 years of searching for "the perfect woman - found one:

"Unfortunately, she was looking for the perfect man."

In my experience, an overlooked part of finding a good mate is making yourself into a good candidate for your side of that partnership.

The logic is similar to the old idiom: If you have to say you are a lady, you are not a lady. With dating, you have be sought after, and not chase after others. Trying to tell people that are lonely about this is, unfortunately, useless; the heart wants what it wants and we can do little to change it. Remember that being a real man is not the opposite of being a woman, but rather in not being a child.
