In my head, I'm imagining them furiously white boarding architecture while someone is way over-sensitive that their ideas aren't being considered. Of course this probably isn't true.
I would say that's quite unlikely. Granted, I have never worked at Google, but it seems that employers have quite a difficult time gathering more than 1-3 employees per group who can disagree on technical details without pitching a fit and harboring a major grudge. My employer's culture has recently entered a nosedive triggered by just this thing. Hopeful, but not expectant, of a recovery.
