The core devs said Loki now supports HIDPI out of the box.

If anyone else needs this, found out you can enable it with the following:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor 2

Pretty much all bundled software works well with 2x scaling factor and looks great on rMBP.
