Hi i m part a open source community, and there is a problem. As in, we have great committers, but relatively few who want to dip into the lower level maintenance stuff. I get it- fixing this or that bug doesn't make for nice curriculum vitae and bragging rights. Writting a feature does.

My question is- are there ways of gamification that would redirect the efforts of beginners into this direction? Something like a stackoverflow system that allows for feature-commits only after you had a share of fixes/maintenance tasks done?
