Exactly what I was thinking. If he didn't know before, he definitely knows now.

I think AI can make contrived records that sound like every other record. I don't think it can make true timeless and classic music.

On a completely different note, I think the premise of this idea sounds absolutely dystopian.

I think this is true today, but timeless and classic music comes from creativity. And creativity is a trial and error process of building on prior approaches and techniques. Randomly testing new approaches and techniques by blending and extending past approaches and techniques seems like something generative AI (with human prompting and targeted supplementation) would be particularly good at.

It's not like the AI made this on its own, it was iterative work with a human

> As I was making the song, I felt like I (a guy with no musical ability) was working with one of the most talented (and patient) bands to bring my song to life through brute force trial and error.

Max Martin comes to mind as an interesting comparison

I wouldn't count on that always being the case.

There are many reasons people aren't having kids. Climate change and general meaninglessness come to mind.

The worst customer service you've ever experienced.

I think this assumes being offended precedes critical thinking. I doubt that.

I've been a musician since I was a kid, so I've always had alternative ways of socializing by being in bands and doing various things that are not intellectual at all.

Could it be possible that nothing it truly conscious? Maybe we're all cogs in the wheel of a giant chemical reaction? In the future, someone may build a robot with a ChatGPT brain, and maybe that will be what passes for as AGI. I haven't found any human endeavor that adequately explains consciousness. Consciousness and intelligence are probably two different things. AI is not conscious, and its intelligence varies, sometimes being very stupid, and sometimes being very smart. It's a system inside of another system.

People have no incentive to go above and beyond. It's been made abundantly clear that employers do not care about employees. Elon just got paid $56,000,000,000, and they simultaneously laid off 10,000 employees. Every time you look up, another company is laying off workers. Workers are being replace by AI every day. Many jobs are pointless, and don't really do anything but feed an empty capitalist system. Inflation has affected everyone but the 1%. Houses are unaffordable. People are just mean in general. Why would anyone want to work?
