That is a very terse statement all things considered.

It was written in the middle of the night. I expect they'll update it later.

Friendly reminder that Kagi offers Kagi Ultimate for 25$, which includes their Assistant [0], which gives you access to more models than only ChatGPT.

Please read this email [0] from the original author of xz. Try take his perspective in his described situation.

I also recommend this summary [1].

I am not assigning any personal blame or making an accusation of bad judgement on the maintainer.

Taking contributions from anons appears to be common. I am suggesting that should change.

Contributions from anons can and in most cases will be verified by maintainers. The actual problem here is appointing them as maintainers.

EDIT: To be clear, this problem is not directed to the original xz maintainer, but more about how to prevent or reduce such appointments in the first place.

Remote-friendly means US-remote-friendly? Or worldwide?

Also, the listing says [0]. Does this mean I can't work as a non-US-citizen / I need a security clearance of some sort?

> This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations. Please note that any offer of employment may be conditioned on your authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license.

The Workers / Developer Platform team is generally happy to hire anywhere in American or European time zones where Cloudflare already has a legal entity set up to support such hiring. This includes many countries in Europe but not all of them -- you will have to ask the recruiter. The Workers team is hesitant to hire in Asia / Australia mostly due to difficulty of scheduling team meetings, but might make an exception for an exceptional candidate. Some other Cloudflare teams operate in those time zones regularly (especially SRE, which naturally has to operate in all time zones).

The note about US export control laws applies to countries that US companies are explicitly forbidden from working with, like Iran. It does not apply to most of the world.

Thank you for the fast reply.

And also thank you for cap'n'proto. Got the chance to sneak into the project again and am happy to see you announced v2.

Please provide these two lines, I'd love to utilize the same pattern in the future :)

Stuff in ~/.ssh/config which complements the git config in OP:

  Host foo.bitbucket.org
    HostName bitbucket.org
    User git
    IdentityFile ~/.ssh/foo_id
As in, for using bitbucket.org with the private key ~/.ssh/foo_id, you'd instead clone from foo.bitbucket.org:owner/repo.

Just tested it. I can't save the new account in the Mail settings when I leave the incoming credentials blank :-/ It works when I add the real IMAP account though. And the Mail app seems to be clever enough to not duplicate everything in the combined Inbox view. Thanks, at least that's a tradeoff.

Thanks, good to know! If I can't find any other solution I will think about this.

Ads, most probably.

Technical question: when I send over my DNS requests to you (do I actually do that?), aren't those requests unencrypted going over the internet so everybody can sniff on which pages I visit?
