Mind you when I made my original statement I had in mind websites that handle millions of monthly uniques and are somewhat dynamic in terms of the content they publish - for smaller scales WP needs basically nothing else and just works, but this scenario is really quite easy with WP if you employ common caching strategies, and is probably impossible with the typical "I wrote this script that generates static HTML last weekend and therefore it's a revolution in CMSes" solution
Yep. Essentially what Linus is saying is that he has got to have more time, more competence, more vigilance that he wants because the other side can't or won't. And it's a recurring problem.
Sometimes we want more control and can't get it. Frustrating. Sometimes senior people are sick and tired of control and want less. Frustrating!

for your own mental sanity, you should try to not take anything personally. put it down to that person being an asshole, or someone who lacks the mental capacity to be nice, or whatever putdown you can think of.
not taking something personally does not mean you condone that behavior. you can reject a behavior even if it is not aimed at you.
if you take things personally it only hurts your own ego, and if that happens to much, it may lead to self-doubt, or even depression. it's not worth it.
They will lose a lot, because real women on OF are predatory, and extract money from desperate men. Why pay for that when you can have basically the same thing for cheap/free?
You're very naive if you don't think his scenario is playing out all over the internet as we speak. It will blow up into a nightmare scenario for a lot of people very quickly once the tech gets better.
Lol I can appreciate the comment and concern. I am roleplaying a creeper, I am a parent of two teenage girls and have seen some of their friends go through some nightmarish scenarios.
One can only hope. While I think prostitution should be destigmatized, normalizing it is incredibly damaging. I understand that most people won't discern or weigh the distinction here, but I feel it is important and pretty well studied at this point.
I think the point is more "not my son (should use these services)" than "not my daughter (should provide these services)."
Provided, a woman does it safely, and can partition their emotions well, I don't think individual women are really harmed by, for example, running an only fans account. I think the male population is massively harmed by substituting bought commodified sexual attention/stimulation for genuine companionship with a woman.
As a consequence guns can be used as a deterrence as well. Since their primary purpose is to cause great harm, people that value their lives and not commit stupid actions.
