Lenovo is a good brand for Linux, i've never had any issues running various distros on my thinkpads over the years.

Lenovo is a good brand and the one issue I've had with several models is Bluetooth audio. You and I had different experiences with the same brand of hardware. To a potential new user considering Linux, do you think our exchange would increase or decrease their confidence about adopting Linux?

First time I hear somebody saying that Windows servers being used more in the enterprise is a made up statement LOL

Google search trend isn't directly linked to marketshare

I said it wasn’t growing and hasn’t been for over a decade and a half. If you have stats proving otherwise feel free to provide.

You must work in a very niche market, in my last 25 years, 100% of the company I worked for were primarly based on windows servers. Yes there are linux servers and the number is increasing, but still represents a very small percentage compared to windows server.

Marijuana can be highly addictive, it depends on the person. I’ve been addicted for over 20 years, completely unable to stop for more then a week and I know a lot of people in the same situation. Not saying it should be illegal because of this, just saying that because it’s not addictive to you doesn’t mean it can’t be for other people. That is why it’s important not to advertise marijuana as a risk free substance.

Can you elaborate on how VR would enhance meetings? I really don’t see the point myself. I don’t want to meet some avatar in a virtual room and I don’t know anybody who would.

He elaborated and you didn't understand

There are tons of accounts of how you feel a sense of 'presence' in VR. The head tracking fools your lizard brain into thinking you're actually there in the virtual world.

If you're reading this site I'm guessing you have access to $400. Just go buy a Quest 2 and try it out for 10 minutes, and you'll see what I mean.

Compared to standard video calls, there'd be a much greater sense of presence. Head movement, hand movement, and eye contact (once that's standard) would increase how close it feels to IRL meetings.

if you are expecting a delivery, it might be common sense to not wear noise cancelling headphones!

That's because the goal of AzureAD isn't to replicate on-premise AD

I think you should read more on what happened in the plane going there, they are getting what they deserve. There is a reason the police were waiting for them at the airport when they got back to Montreal!

They have been definitely denied initially for their behavior on the flight to Cancun. They we're acting senselessly, no mask, heavy drinking, vaping , not respecting any rules. The staff on the plane had to resort to staying in the back of the place because they we're afraid of their behaviors. Police we're waiting for them when they got back to Montreal.

you have too check out the donations wall...

Since when can you not drink on a plane? I've never really looked if vaping on a plane is against the rules, but it's pretty easy to do that covertly enough anyways

> Since when can you not drink on a plane?

Since the pandemic started you can't drink alcohol on planes, at least in the US (I realize this was happening overseas but I suspect that rule is not just the US). I've heard a flight attendant say it's a $10K fine for drinking on a plane now but I don't have confirmation/sources on that, I just know all US flights include a no alcohol announcement since the start of the pandemic. Vaping is also illegal on planes, having nothing to do with the pandemic, for the same reason as smoking (shared air space).

You are not allowed to bring your own liquor on the plane, plus, they we're drinking a ridiculous amount of alcohol and getting shit face. You aren't allowed to vape neither, like you aren't allowed to dance and have sex. I don't get why people don't see how their behaviors was completely unacceptable. The authorities also think it was unacceptable since they we're all picked up when they landed back.

It wasn't a commercial flight. It was a charted, private flight. What they are or not allowed to do ultimately would come down to the service provider... If the service provider was OK with it, they could actually do all of those things.

Agreed and clearly the provider wasn’t okay with it

Clearly the Canadian Media and Government weren't ok with it. Sunwing only took a position after this story was terrible PR. If this were serious they would have diverted the plane or arrested them at the gate...

Since you have to wear a face mask.

The point of the person you are replying to is why do you need this social interaction with people you barely know (because be honest, you don’t really know these people) versus social interaction with your friends?

Because if I'm honest, I do know them. I've been working for several years at the same place, have made friends, had lunch/dinner/beers/coffees, been to weddings, etc. Some of them are not friends, but I am happy to see them, just like I enjoy talking to my butcher or fruit seller.

Maybe it's an age/cultural thing, but I'm going to spend quite a bit of time working, so I'd rather do it with people I like. Inevitably, because we like each other, we're happy to see each other, hence the office is a good place to go to. And if I don't know them yet, there's no reason why I shouldn't meet anyone interesting at the office.

I also enjoy talking about my work with like minded people : not my friends, but co-workers. The best conversations happen over beers, coffees, meals, etc which require physical interactions.

Fair enough, I guess it’s just different for everybody. I personally prefer to get my job done as quickly as possible (which is easier without all those interactions) so that I can have the time to go spent it with the people of my choosing and not people that just happens to be next to me.

Agreed - it's personal.

I'll add that I enjoy moving people from 'sitting next to me' to 'known', and given that there are not that many people sitting next to me, and I have a fixed office plan (always the same people next to me), it works for me. I would not enjoy going to the office if I wasn't around the same people/there wasn't at least a bit of stability. We didn't mention this : if your company has a flexible floor plan, indeed, then you won't know your co-workers!

It probably depends on the kind of job you do as well : a significant portion of my job is spent talking to people anyway, and I'd rather make it as pleasant as possible. If it means getting to know people, then I'm quite happy to do so.
