No, they are our ally. We stand with Ukraine because we stand against tyranny.

These jingoistic platitudes are getting so heavy-handed that I legitimately can't tell if this is satire.

As long as the tyranny is in a place which is economically interesting to you and it is not being done by your allies. We know.

I can't speak for others but I am not against having regime change in Saudi Arabia and other such "allies" of convenience.

What decline in soft power?

Since the vast majority of truckers are not part of this far-right convoy, this would probably work just fine.

> protesters racists and misogynists

That's probably because of the Nazi and Confederate flags people are waving.

In my opinion, they should cry it out or quit given Canada's 1 dose vaccination rate is in the 80% range.

Last I heard, the convoy organizers put a bounty on the Nazi flag guy for any information leading to his identification. There is also video of protesters calling out the confederate flag guy and telling him to leave. Two assholes showing up to a protest don't represent the agenda of the entire group. The BLM riots had a much higher asshole ratio last time I checked.

How silly is it to have a confederate flag at a Canadian protest, anyway, if not simply for shaping optics in the citizenry of the United States to tell them how to frame current events??

Screams of an orchestrated heuristic.

If you’re aware of such a fringe factoid as flags appearing in the crowd but simultaneously unaware of the footage demonstrating these to be literally false flags you may want to diversify your information sources.

The use of the plural "people" here is interesting. As far as I can tell there was one Nazi flag and one Confederate flag. But they sure got a lot of media play...

The video of the confederate flag guy shows that he was shunned by the protestors.

> Technologically, AWS is built like a fucking house of cards with spit, tape, and glue. There

Still making more money than GCP and Azure (both of which are worse to use, IMHO) so...who cares?

When you're running a world wide service with lots of moving and connected parts this dramatically increases the danger you'll have catastrophes that will cost much or most of that market share.

As a thought experiment, suppose all of AWS was down for a full week? What would happen after that?

More realistically, how many times can us-east-chaos-monkey bring down various global services before a lot of its users start making moves to mitigate or eliminate their exposure to AWS?

For a more concrete example, I'm working on a project that has an easy but critical use of cloud services. The more I read about Amazon following Microsoft into Ballmer era stack ranking madness, and the most AWS fails objectively fails, the lower the priority it gets for which cloud platform to support first and best.

The last mile distribution wasn’t well considered at all. Between tweets denying he lost the election he just said it would be up to the states to furnish last mile.

I think OWS had some autonomy outside of the crazy day to day bloviating.

The initial Pfizer environmental requirements were difficult to meet, and the military through the national guard were a big part of delivery.

Outside of those logistics everything was an evil shitshow.

I think the subtext is some people associated systemd opposition to right wing politics (not fully unfounded if I understand) so the maintainers wanted to get out ahead of it when releasing another distro without systemd

I hesitate to ask, but can you provide some context for linking anti-systemd sentiment with fascism?

I sympathize with the author but I find many of these arguments lack a middle ground for trade offs that ultimately neglect the fact that the situation today is vastly different from the situation in march 2020. We have pharmaceutical interventions and know how to treat and prevent COVID. There’s no excuse for 99.9% of schools to go to near normal or at minimum be in person.

The idea that the sole global superpower would be 59th is absolutely silly, no matter the metrics used.

Strongest != Greatest

This is why the study uses 16 factors, not just one.

I think this is a perfectly valid opinion, far more defensible than his take on Theranos' coverage.
