Did… did this really long bio answer the question? I’m not sure what this is trying to do tbh, but it was interesting to see how these labs have been trying to incorporate AI.

The thing I believe least in this article is that the investor is betting their career on this investment. Maybe they think that, but they’re still multi-millionaires making bets with other people’s money. They’ll be fine.

Hehe he’s signalling his high conviction to get those in after him and keep the valuation rising!

Now please investigate their teaser rates to get you to choose Uber as a transport option when they know your driver is vapor and/or will cancel then charge 3x congestion pricing on the next refresh when it’s too late to pick another option. Infuriating practices, and the drivers seem to keep getting screwed on the gigs.

Reporting for duty. Just wanted to say you are doing god’s work. Everyone should have a chance to experience sailing.

Sure, but that’s piracy. Kinda like saying Winamp is alternative to Spotify. The music is kinda the most important thing.

> Sure, but that’s piracy

You got me there

> Kinda like saying Winamp is alternative to Spotify

No, it's really not like saying that. I was responding to a post lamenting the difficulty of acquiring the files for the music they've already discovered on Spotify, and I brought up a music file acquisition system that pulls from what they've discovered on Spotify. That's different than comparing a local player to a discovery system.

If you feel bad, buy a single song of each artist afterwards and you have given them vastly more money than listening to them on Spotify will ever generate.

You can give them even more by skipping the silly part of buying a song you'll never listen to on the platform which takes majority of that money, and just transfer them $1 by paypal or whatever they like to use.

yeah I’ll skip that part and then spend the next 2 hours to find the payment details of my favorite band, sure

I know you are hyperbolic, but finding the band on Facebook and sending a quick message takes a minute max? Especially for your "favorite band". I always deter people from buying CDs of local bands, the band will see a tiny fraction of that price in their pockets. Just walk up to the bandleader after concert and give them $5.

It’s sad but true. What I like to do is use the credits I earn from choosing slower Amazon deliveries to purchase single songs on Amazon music. Sometimes I don’t even download the song.

It is really just unauthorized copying. No boats were boarded, nobody was murdered.

That's the premise of this whole thread. Nobody is going to buy albums on itunes to self host them. The ergonomics and economics just don't work out.

I try to do that. Sadly this is sometimes very hard. I often fine myself in situation when I can't buy album I like. It is nowhere to be found. Sometimes I can't even pirate it because this so niche.

I would say that "Consulting" model as defined above is employed moreso (but not entirely) by Deloitte, but Accenture and Booz Allen have a higher percentage of on-site folks not at all engaged with internal IP building, sales, etc that amount to staff augmentation. As Booz Allen and Deloitte went after service contracts typically held by folks like Lockheed, GD, CSC, etc it was a race to the bottom for fees to grab as much land as possible, so there wasn't really any head room for people that could do both in the rate they pass through to the customer.

Furthermore, in the cleared space you're pretty much silo'd to places that grant clearances - so while you might build up some IP you can never actually leave that market because your credentials are too valuable.

Twitter has a Government EULA so agencies do have official accounts in line with regulation. That said, the agency itself is responsible for preserving its records in a way required by law, and is also typically required to post official requests and changes to the Federal Record.

the question wasn't about the (government) account holder's EULA, the question was whether citizens have to accept Twitter's regular EULA in order to view the posts.

can I scrape government Twitter accounts and mirror them without paying Elon for API access? because I can scrape ssa.gov just fine.

Forget scraping. I can't read Twitter, as I don't have an account. A normal person is now locked out of SSA communications unless they sign up for Twitter.

Good point. Unsure. I guess it depends on whether embedded content implies users have accepted a EULA? I'd imagine they will cross-post to their web page as well, but who knows.

It's also contrary to a number of federal records act laws, conflict of interest and ethics laws, etc. Folks don't seem to care about that though...

Also good thing the primary audience for Social Security recipients is in the X user demographic? I gotta say this could have been an incredible opportunity to revolutionize technology for the people but it was squandered by self-dealing morons.

those laws only apply to competitors to Twitter.

No - because generally there will be a lot more folks in the labor market with less leverage so they will not need to pay more in order to attract the talent they need. This is also why inflation is typically solved by recessions. They reduce labor demand which reduces wages which (generally) reduces the price of producing things overall.

You should do it! Go Nacra instead of Hobie if needed but you should absolutely do your own version of the Worrell - just have somebody trail you in a motor boat if you need to feel more comfortable :)
