They definitely have enough capital for nuclear. Their neighbours, Slovakia and Czechia, both have quite significant nuclear installations. Czechia generates 34% [1] of electricity from nuclear and Slovakia 52% [2]. Slovakia is finishing expansion of one of their nuclear power plants (Mochovce), which will add 2 more reactors - each with ability to deliver 13% of total country consumption [3].
Both Slovakia and Czechia are bit more "richer" than Poland (if you look at GDP (PPP) per capita), however Poland is much bigger economy - 5x size of Slovakia.
My guess is that because so far they had so much coal (largest reserves in Europe [4]), it was no brainer for them. However they are now in the process of commissioning nuclear power plant and plan to generate power from nuclear by 2033 [4]
Nuclear may have some of the same issues as coal, in that if its use declines worldwide it becomes more expensive for you to keep using it. Not to mention the historical baggage associated with it.
How do you get errors to other services in Segment?
Did you write some custom code to catch errors and then send them as segment's track calls?
We use Sentry with Segment, but on client segment just loads sentry and the errors are caught by sentry only, they do not appear in other integrations.
I felt similar and the price increase was last drop. I use it mostly to store originals of pictures and video however that also means that they are little bit forgotten.
Whole family is on iOS so after I found out that Apple Photos can merge raw and jpg into single item in their UI, it was no brainer to switch to iCloud and import all the images/videos into Photos and rest of the files into iCloud.
As a bonus I can share storage with whole family in iCloud, which is not possible with Dropbox.
If interviewer has any clue, then they will know that and will account for that in their judgment. Almost everyone is nervous and will not perform at their best.
My process is pretty much same as above, with the difference that I let them choose whatever framework/language they feel most comfortable with (with obvious caveat that I might not be able to help them if they get stuck).
If you are good dev, you will pick up any language/frameworks quite quickly if you want to (there are exceptions, like switching to completly different paradigm e.g. from JS to Haskell, but that is not our case).
Not everyone is great at interviews. One of the best engineers I worked with was very bad at interviewing (even I wasn't initially sure whether we should hire him).
The problem is that most of the interviews are very different from actual day to day work. Candidates do not perform same tasks in the same way as they would while working. Same goes for evaluation of results - very rarely is candidate rated using same criteria as it would in his performance review.
Would you mind sharing more details how you measured performance of your team? Thanks
Being 5 miles from Windsor castle and also from Eton college might have something to do with it. Heathrow is only 15 miles away on motorway.
Bray has about 300 millionaires and Windsor around 900 [1] (few other villages from that list are also just short drive away).
