By definition communism has no ruling class. You must be thinking of Marxism, a.k.a. State Capitalism. It is capitalism because the state simply takes over the role of capitalist. I recommend looking into libertarian forms of communism like anarcho-communism. The "classic" introduction to anarchist communism is The Conquest of Bread [1], but that's a whole book. If you're looking for a quick introduction, I suggest Life Without Law [2].
This is not a bad question, but part of the value of Smile was that it was very easy to support a selected charity as a side effect of another activity.
I think this will hurt smaller charities. They might not have been getting a huge donation from Smile, but I also think a lot of Smile users aren't going to consciously donate to the charity they selected - certainly not in the $5-$10 range that is probably more than most individual shoppers accounted for each term - and as a result those charities will be taking in less than before.
Smile was a good program. I have no idea what it cost Amazon to operate, but I am pretty confident it resulted in more money going to charity than whatever Amazon will now do instead.
What is your point? I've heard that fast food places had become way more expensive. So yes average Jane/Joe would have nothing left after covering basic expenses. Myself I do not go to places like this at all. We either cook at home or on very rare occasions go to some restaurants where I can get some really good food.
Junk is way cheaper than healthy food if you buy it in the stores vs going to fast food restaurants. But yes almost everything is less expensive in the US.
