It's actually possible that the NK hackers are taking blame on behalf of CCP. Would take too long to explain fully. Just imagine NK as a "blame proxy" for CCP when it comes to the edgiest operations

Sounds plausible, but is there any sort of evidence or indication that this is happening?

the same evidence thats used to blame everything else on the Russians.

B/c billionaires got everything, they also want to feel good about themselves & righteous too. Thus you see a lot of virtual signaling

In this thread. Bunch of people who haven't won anything criticizing the methods of the greatest winner.

Downvotes are probably due to jealousy / discomfort

Haves and have notes is a divide that has existed for nearly the entirety of human history. It's not usually what people are referring to when they talk about the extent of the American divide currently. It's really more in reference to the fact that republicans and democrats rarely cross the aisle to support something that the other side is supporting. In this sense, the American divide has gotten wider because it's much rarer to find a republican and democrat willing to agree on something than it was in the past.

Here's a pretty interesting visualization that better explains the idea: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/figure?id=10.1371/...

It was then as well.

exactly. they panic hired a bunch of contractors with no real operating plan on how to utilize them, and now taxpayers are footing the bill for the contracting company CEO's third mansion.

The question is - was the egregious price the contractors charged a good price? I have the right to care about that as a tax payer

In the U.S., we send them to private prisons instead and make them do free labor.

While I dont quite agree, this made me laugh...

Touche

To an extent this is true, except china has USA beat hands down still with the camps

What is this guy smoking? He presents a false dichotomy of saving "labor" vs "assets". Look, if assets depreciate, it affects balance sheets of everyone, including corporates, and induce a balance sheet recession which reduces reinvestment into the economy. Everyone's fked then, too. It's all connected.

The best way to know if you're getting fired:

If you don't have a "cue" from your boss that you are safe PRIOR to the layoff, then you are pretty much on the chopping block.

In other words, if you don't know who the sucker is, you are the sucker.

I would be surprised if middle managers at Uber have access to the plan at this point.

In my experience, that is generally true. But if there have been any recent stack ranking efforts, that's certainly a dead giveaway.

A lot of companies do stack ranking every year regardless of whether they're doing layoffs.

Yeah, but you always "kinda" know where you stand with your boss.

But you dont know where your boss stands or if they even get to make the call

Having managed and laid off people (unfortunately), I would guess middle managers have already been given a number X to cut already, and they are spending some sleepless nights already trying to figure out exactly what to say (unless they are too chicken and have HR personel do the firing)

That is only one of the ways it’s done. The other is to hire strategy consultants who analyze org structure then try to fit people in those remaining boxes. Those left out are really out.

I always definitely know because I explicitly ask, and recommend others do as well. It was one of the things I started doing after reading through Netflix's culture deck.

Depends on company size; a lot of lower level bosses won’t know anything about layoffs. Last one I went through, which I survived, was a surprise to me despite being a manager.
