The cursor being captured when hovering buttons is the worst UI I've seen in a very long time

Is that meant to be an argument in favor of it? That it's what the iPad does for the extremely rare case of a user using a mouse with it?

Just information. I don’t know rare this case is, I use my iPad mostly with magic keyboard which has a touchpad.

Honestly it doesn’t bother me at all because it only applies to UI elements and not the websites link or buttons.

It sucks on there too. Thankfully it can be toned down/disabled there.

This is, for all I care, on par with sites that mess with scrolling.

I sort of understand this being used on artistic or playful sites, or ones to show off tech, sure. On a document that talks about usability? Feels like satire.

I honestly do not know if I have any screen that supports HDR. At least I've never noticed any improved image quality when viewing HDR video content and compare the image on my M3 Macbook Pro screen vs. an old external IPS monitor. Maybe my eyes are just broken?

Yeah but even if your app is the new Uber for dogs the goal should still be to let users accomplish their task as fast as possible and not some app engagement metric.

Its not always that easy. I specifically bought a Zenfone 9 due to its small size and unlockable bootloader. Guess what - Asus removed the bootloader unlock tool after I purchased the device. Can't trust anyone these days

The big difference for me is that there is no way to quickly jump between multiple windows of the same application. I often have multiple different projects open in vscode and would love a way to switch between them without having to right-click and selecting one from the list. All I want is something like the windows taskbar with auto-grouping disabled.

> there is no way to quickly jump between multiple windows of the same application

Except that there is, and with multiple ways to do so:

1) CMD+Backtick

2) ALT+Tab + down/up arrow

3) force clicking the app icon

4) Clicking on "Show all windows"

5) Exposé

As far as I can tell, the only thing that's different between the windows task bar and the mac dock is the preview thumbnails.

The App Exposé gesture works really well for that purpose. It's gesture-based, but you can configure a hot corner to trigger it too.

I just use an old macbook air with a bluetooth keyboard that also has a touchpad. The thing is in sleep mode when not needed, so it wakes up fast and does not need a lot of energy. With that setup I can access whatever media I want, have a solid adblocker and a browser with a real keyboard.

> with a bluetooth keyboard that also has a touchpad

Different strokes for different folks, having to use a keyboard to control my TV is for me one of those usability compromises I preferred to avoid. It's probably related to how I use the TV, things like browsing the web were never on the list of requirements. I'll have a phone, tablet, or laptop at hand for that.

For comparison - I'm getting solid 120fps with Brave on Android.

Did you already check Garmin watches? They have great battery life and allow local data access via their FIT SDK [1].

You could also go down the DIY route and build one yourself. I did just that and am really happy with the outcome. Check out https://ben.akrin.com/plottybot for a great design and instructions

You can do just that on Steam with family sharing: https://store.steampowered.com/promotion/familysharing

Steam's family sharing is definitely not as convenient. Especially because their system doesn't so much share games but entire libraries: only one person can use a library at a time. I could be playing a free game like Dota 2 and my entire library will be locked out of my family share. This makes it impossible to actually build a big library that you can share with multiple friends compared to a physical game collection.
