To be clear, I think he's ignorant of why this approach doesn't get the same cost/benefit in this use-case. I don't think he's ignorant of the harm being caused (or he's at least wilfully ignorant), but as I said I think he'll see it as working as intended.
This project is incredible and the author is an exceptional talent. So much complexity spanning multiple disciplines.
The radar PCB is incredibly complex and dense, and worked on the first revision with only one minor issue. That's remarkable. Imagine writing an entire software application and the first time you build it runs as intended with only a couple compiler warnings.
This is Apple following a federal name change. There are actual "gross" things being done to appease Trump by others; this is not one of them. If it were it would have been done in January when the order was signed, not this week when it hit the naming database.
> To make the most of being open-source, we believe that there should be an appropriate infrastructure for documentation and quality assessment of code contributions. Our current focus is to lay the foundation for an MVP and release a public standalone version 1 by the end of the year.

That's a pretty weak response to "why isn't your product with Open in the name open-source yet." They don't need to provide documentation or accept code contributions at all in order to release the source code they're working on.
That kind of logic gives me the impression they may not ever open-source it if they get successful enough to sell it somehow (and, if it flops, it's a coin-flip as to whether or not they get around to open-sourcing it before it disappears).
Does 'MVP' in this context mean they want to sell something as a business, or just that they want a good functioning version (like, be out of alpha stage)?
He knows what he's doing and has a plan. He's a very smart person.
